In the summer of 2011, RCCS expanded its outreach to financially strapped cancer stricken patients living in Israel. Since the Israeli medical system is based on socialized medicine, referred to as the Kupath Cholim system, the needs in Israel are totally different than those in America.
The problem arises when Israeli patients on the lower economic scale do not have private, supplemental insurance coverage, in addition to the standard, socialized medical Kupath Cholim coverage. In these cases, prompt access to top-tier oncologists is severely restricted.
That’s when RCCS/Y (Rofeh Cholim Cancer Society/Yerushalayim) enters the picture. Within 48 hours after a patient is diagnosed with cancer, RCCS/Y expedites access to top oncologists by paying these specialists “privately.”
Once the patient is empowered with a path forward from a top oncologist, the patient is led back into the government-funded Kupath Cholim system, with RCCS/Y liaisons accompanying the patient every step of the way. In addition, RCCS/USA acquires “second opinions” from the leading cancer enters in the USA as an adjunct to facilitate the quickest and best medical care possible for our Israeli patients.
